Magician Walter Sleight was devastated after his old box of magic tricks was stolen by children. The 80-year-old conjurer from East Lincoln was performing at a city pub on Wednesday night when two boys ran off with his case of props and tricks. Some items were pre-war, and are irreplaceable. "They are what we call 'classics' and at today's prices these tricks would run into hundred of pounds." Mr Sleight started his career in magic at the Theatre Royal in Cleethorpes in the 1930's. He was known as Sleight of Hand and has performed on television and around the world. Lincolnshire Police said the two thieves were aged between 7 and 10. The bag is described as an arch-shaped case about 2ft long with a zip top. Lincolnshire Police telephone: 01522 882222. Story by Alex Gore sent in by James Smith. 25.8.01
