John Archer's Handy Lecture and Comedy Writing Workshop manuscripts are reviewed this week. One of the UK's funniest magicians, it turns out he's also a bit of a thinker too (who'd have thought it!). There's some great material here. John was recently seen in Undercover Magic on Sky One. To read the reviews Click Here. 3.9.05

Freddie Wilkinson performed his cabaret act at a special charity show last week at the Cabaret Club, Nottingham. The event, which raised over £5,000 for various children's groups, was organised by the children from "Make It Big 2" (Channel Five). The programme takes a group of children and films them planning and staging a high profile charity show, in a 'fly on the wall' style documentary. "It was a fun night if a little nerve racking working in front of so many cameras, both on stage and off," said Freddie. The 14 episode series will be shown on Five later in the year, and the charity show will feature towards the end of the series. www.freddiewilkinson.co.uk. 3.9.05

Ace In The Pack "A young North-East man who couldn't face the prospect of the nine-to-five life after graduating with a law degree is heading for Hollywood. For the last four years, Gateshead-based Matthew Dowden has been a magician - an extraordinarily talented card-trickster, pocket-picker, watch-remover and mind-reader - who has used his ability to carve out a career in corporate trade shows..." "Hey presto! Bradford's answer to David Blaine. Hip-hop magician Dynamo is on the verge of super-stardom with a television deal" writes Nicole Mowbray in The Observer. "His fans include Dizzee Rascal, Gwyneth Paltrow and Mike Skinner. He has performed for Prince Charles; Will Smith would like him to do a turn at his Christmas party. Drop his name, and you're suddenly welcome in the hip set. Not bad for a teenager from Bradford who admits he's a bit of a blagger..." To read the full story Click Here. Dynamo is featured in an exclusive interview in The Sun today. The newspaper took Dynamo to Bradford's notorious Delph Hill Estate to talk about his upbringing and future plans. 3.9.05

James More came second in the finals of the Bournemouth Star Trail held at the Wessex Hotel last Sunday. Fifteen acts competed. "...James More was brilliant, too. Amazingly skillful, charismatic and engaging, he put that special x-factor into his magic that is so very seldom seen" wrote Hilary Porter in the Daily Echo. James can be seen in another talent competition final on Wednesday, September 7th, at the Ocean Room, part of the Weymouth Pavilion Complex (Map), Weymouth, Dorset. Doors open at 7pm, and tickets will be available on the door. James does indeed have the "x-factor" (for me he really stood out in the recent Magic Circle Young Magician of the Year Competition) and clearly has a very bright future ahead; if you live locally do try and see this show (DT). 3.9.05

Coming soon... The Horwitz Wallet. Martin Breese writes: "For those who don't know, the Horwitz Wallet enables the performer to perform a number of effects including the miracle card in wallet effect. What makes this wallet so different is that all the changes and the tricky business all takes place when the spectator puts the wallet in his own pocket. Everything is done openly and there is no palming involved..." Find out more, visit: www.martinbreese.com. 3.9.05
