Leamington Day of Magic. The Leamington & Warwick Magic Society are pleased to announce details of their forthcoming Day of Magic, to be held on Wednesday 24th June. Doors open at 8am. This all day event includes lectures from Jon Allen - England's only World IBM Close-Up Champion, John Archer - current Magic Circle Stage Magician of the Year, and Kimmo - current BMC World Children's Entertainer. With additional mini lectures by Shane West on Puppets and Venting, Arthur MacTier on the Gilbreath Principle and Smudgy the Clown on Balloon Modelling. Steve Beam and Pavel to lecture at the British Magical Society. President Mike Gancia has announced that as well as fantastic domestic lecturers in his programme until the Summer Recess both Steve Beam and Pavel are to lecture. On May 12th the creator of the ‘Semi-Automatic Card Tricks’ series Steve Beam from the USA will be presenting to us a night on Close-Up magic. Later on the June 16th the FISM award winner Pavel from Switzerland who has invented such classics as the 'Walking Knot' will be presenting a lecture on magical invention. Steve Gore is the new president of the Northern Magic Circle; one of the youngest presidents in its history. British Quick Change Artists Keelan Leyser and Charlotte Marie took part in a large scale magic and illusion show in Cairo, Egypt last week, entitled Abracadabra at the Cairo Exhibition Centre which seats over 2000 people. The show sold out and was extended to four performances. The artists also presented one of the shows for charity to over 2000 orphans for Orphan's Day. Mel Harvey takes on the role of "Blake Barrington" for Stratford Town Ghost Walks. As the ghostly tour guide Mel will be showing visitors around Stratford upon Avon, highlighting various places where ghostly happenings have taken place. Steve Beams in to Bath. The legendary Steve Beam will be lecturing at the Bath Circle of Magicians at 8pm on Thursday 7th May. The Blackpool & Fylde Mystics - Award winners. The Blackpool & Fylde Mystics were well represented at the recent Northern Magic Circle convention with three members winning awards. Alan Mylecraine won both the Vice Presidents Trophy for representing the Blackpool & Fylde Mystics and the Jim Lumley Challenge Cup for 1st Place in the Close-Up competition. Jack Clarke claimed second place in the Junior Stage Competition and Allan Clarke both the prize for the best article in the Northern Lights together with the Presidents Wand for the work he has done in promoting the Northern Magic Circle. 18.4.09

Tonny Van Rhee - lecture dates. Belgium's Tonny Van Rhee is a direct descendant of the famous Bamberg dynasty of magicians.
