The Magic Circle Young Magician of the Year Competition 2011. 50th Anniversary. Held every two years at The Magic Circle Headquarters, London, the competition is open to all magicians over 14 and under 18 on 1st January 2011 who can present a stage act suitable for a family audience, lasting between eight and twelve minutes. Every year competing acts feature manipulation, illusion, comedy, pure theatre, mind reading and more in their performances; the list of previous winners is starting to read like a who's who of British Magic. 2011's winner will hold the title "Young Magician of the Year", be presented with the Derrick Speight Trophy, and also enjoy full membership of The Magic Circle at 18, 'all paid' for the first 4 years. The Northern Magic Circle Convention 2011 takes place on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th April at the Spa Complex, Scarborough. "Building on the huge success of the last convention the NMC 2011 promises to be a not-to-be missed event. Conjuring at the Court - Christmas Show for Children, on Thursday 30th December at 2.30pm. "Our Christmas show for children proved a hit so we’re repeating it this year, this time featuring David Tomkins and Scott Penrose. It’s a show for children but it’s not childish – adults will be highly entertained and baffled too. David Tomkins is a wonderful children’s entertainer with his own magical creations and puppet routines. He was recently a UK prize winner at the Intercontinental Children's Entertainer Championships in Blackpool. Scott Penrose is a master magician who makes doves, cards and scarves appear from thin air. He’s performed at the London Palladium and all over the world, his act was a hit with the children last year and we’re delighted to have him back. Britain's Got Talent... but it's busy working overseas. Illusionist and magician Craig Christian is currently appearing alongside Timo Marc, Timothy Trust & Diamond, Gaetan Bloom, Malin Nilsson and Sebastian Nicolas at the Krystal Palace Theatre in Leipzig, Germany for a three-month season in 'Illusia' a full evening of comedy, illusion and magic.
