Northern Magic Circle Convention, this weekend in Harrogate. From the organisers: The Convention is on Saturday and Sunday, and the registration desk will be open 9am Saturday morning at the theatre. Artists appearing include: John Archer. You will probably recognise him as a Stand-up Comedy Magician with a penchant for the visual pun, and full-on audience combat with a mentalist slant. But he is also an accomplished close-up performer in the corporate field and does a fair share of comedy writing for TV. Mark Shortland grew up in Northampton, England, before heading off to St. Albans to attend college at the age of 18. Leaving with a design degree, Mark moved to Wales and started a ten year career as a canoe instructor, which also took him to Scotland and The Lake District. The design degree didn’t help much!! In 2001 Mark left the damp buoyancy aid behind to pursue a full time career in entertainment, culminating in his Membership of The Inner Magic Circle and title ‘British Magical Grand Prix Champion 2005-2007’. Mark will be both lecturing and performing at this year’s convention. Derek Lever is a very well-known figure in the magical world. He has been in magic for over 50 years in that time has lectured and performed all over the world, including the famous Magic Castle in Hollywood. He is also the founder and director of The Taurus Magic Company. Derek is the author of a number of books and is the organiser of the world's largest magic convention, the world famous Blackpool Magic Convention. He also owns a vast collection of magical apparatus both rare and ingenious and frequently displays these in his lectures. With these fantastic credentials he is more than qualified to present his fantastic talk for our History of Mystery slot entitled “The History of the Magic Dealer.” John Russell, Publicity Officer, Northern Magic Circle. Doug Segal: I Can Make You a Mentalist, May Tour dates. Award winning entertainer Doug Segal is embarking on a brand new comedy mind reading tour that turns the audience into mind reading mentalists. Expect comedy, animation and interaction as well as mind blowing miracles performed by you, the audience. Pushing the boundaries of comedy mind reading, Doug will find a random audience member and turn them into a mind reading mentalist (via the Brainmatiser 3000™). The audience member will perform all the mind reading in the show, with Doug simply acting as guide, a feat that has never been attempted before. There is absolutely nothing spooky or supernatural in what Doug is doing. Everything is achieved using one or more of the following skills from Doug's background in psychology and advertising: persuasion techniques, statistics, reading body language, subliminal influence and two key advertising skills: 'Cheating and Lying', all done with laughs, rakish charm and a rock and roll attitude. Doug has been described by TimeOut magazine as “the UK’s best kept entertainment secret”. The Metro newspaper said “one of the funnier more entertaining mental illusionists”. He has won awards for the Best Cabaret Brighton Fringe 2012, and the Three Weeks Editors Award for being one of the ten best things (out of 2,700) at Edinburgh Fringe 2012.

Announcing Mark Leveridge's Big Box Bundles! "I was looking through my range of marketed products and realised that many of them fell into specific categories. So I thought, how cool would it be to put together a few mega bundles of themed products and offer them at a truly great price! Well, that's what my Big Box Bundles are. There are 6 different boxes to choose from - a Books Box (7 items), a DVDs Box (7 items), a Kids' Tricks Box (5 items), a Card Magic Box (10 items), a Money Magic Box (6 items) and a Brass Products Box (4 items). Each box is priced way below the normal combined total of the individual items inside, making them exceptional value. However, be warned - I have only made up 6 of each box and they will only be available for a total of 2 weeks, after which any boxes remaining will be unpacked and the items sold once more at their normal individual prices. So get moving quickly if you want to get these fantastic bargains, because you only have at the very latest until midnight on Friday 30th May, and remember there are only 6 Box Bundles of each type available - so if others get there before you, you could miss out!
