The story of ‘The Supreme Magic Company’. Steve Short with the help, advice and blessing of Ian Adair, will be presenting a lecture on the most famous magic company in the world. The format will start with a PowerPoint presentation with photos and video clips telling the story of how Edwin Hooper started the firm in 1953, funded by his Punch and Judy shows on the beach at Woolacombe. The story will unfold, telling as the company grew from strength to strength supplying apparatus to magicians all over the world. As well as supplying magic to amateurs and full time entertainers, Supreme sold to famous names such as Tommy Cooper, Orson Welles, David Copperfield, Robert Harbin, David Nixon, Paul Daniels and even Harry Corbett and Sooty! Ian Adair joined the company in 1958 and all was going well. Edwin sadly passed away and The Supreme Magic Company was never quite the same. Steve will demonstrate and show some of Supreme’s famous props including close-up, children’s effects, mentalism and more. This will be a nostalgic evening bringing back memories for many magicians. Steve would like to hear from anyone with stories, photos, film clips and any information they have that he could use in this lecture. Email info@steve-short.co.uk. 1.8.15
