The Mark Leveridge July Podcast. Mark Leveridge writes: If you fancy sunbathing in the garden or on the beach and want to listen to half an hour of magic related chat and opinion, then the latest mp3 downloadable Podcast is just the thing. July's topics are as follows: The power that Derren Brown brings to his performances bucks the accepted modern trend of how we should entertain lay people. I offer a theory about when you should hand write a prediction and when it is OK to have it pre-printed. Nobody knows everything in magic, so surrounding yourself with knowledgeable people can be a huge help. Most performers spend more time on the show than they do on the business of promoting that show. Mark Leveridge Magic does not sell fish despite what UPS may think! Coming second on BGT could be a good thing for Issy Simpson. Not getting a booking may be nothing to do with the fee. You can access this latest recording, or others from the Podcast archive, by going to www.markleveridge.co.uk/podcast.php or www.markleveridge.podbean.com. 8.7.17

South London Close Up Magic Champion: "Theo The Magician was very pleased to win The South London Magic Society Close Up Championships for the first time. It was twice as hard this year, as they had over twice as many magicians entering - 11 in total. Everyone commented on the high standard and entertainment value. It is always a much better competition when there are more laymen than magicians in the audience, as you get a true reaction. Theo now joins a select group of magicians that have 'done the double' in the same year; winning both the Stage and Close Up Championships. Theo will now have to put two new acts together for next year as The South London rules state that you can’t enter the same act twice. Theo celebrated by putting on a show for the children from the charity Jigsaw4u that he has raised money for, helping children and young people put the pieces back together." www.jigsaw4u.org.uk www.magictheo.com www.slmagic.co.uk. 8.7.17
