Feel the Love. Matthew Le Mottée is The Magic Circle Close-up Magician of the Year - for a second year running! The Magic Circle Close-up Magician of the Year Competition is one of the highlights of the British magical calendar and on Monday evening The Magic Circle was packed to capacity as the eight finalists did their thing in front of a mainly lay audience, that was projected onto the big screen for the members in the theatre. Matthew Le Mottée's act had 'Moments in Time' as its theme. We saw flashes of fire, a pocket watch, a wedding ring, an hour glass, cards, even a block of ice, in a well constructed routine, delivered with real ease and style, resulting in Matthew being placed first. Simon Alexander's magic and charm gained him second place and Scotland's Billy Reid was deservedly placed third. If you're not a member of The Magic Circle then perhaps you should be! As well as the superb London HQ they produce a fine monthly magazine enjoyed by magicians worldwide. Visit www.themagiccircle.co.uk/join-us for membership details. Jamie Raven Making Magic - 2018 UK Tour Dates. From the promoters: Lee Martin for Gag Reflex in association with InterTalent Rights Group proudly present Jamie Raven Making Magic UK Tour 2018. His appearances on Britain’s Got Talent and other subsequent performances have now been seen over 450 million times online and television, making him one of the most watched magicians in the world today. In November and December 2015, Jamie headlined The Illusionists at The Shaftesbury Theatre, which went on to break the box office record for a limited engagement and in doing so became the most successful Magic show ever in the history of London’s West End. In 2016 and 2017, he took his own one-man show on a tour across five countries, playing 120 shows across 105 different venues. He is looking forward to doing it all over again with Making Magic – a look at how magicians do what they do. Why does magic work? How are our hearts fooled into believing something that our brains know simply can’t be true? Making Magic will culminate in a random member of the audience, with absolutely no performing experience whatsoever, being turned into a magician in order to perform the final trick of the show live on stage with Jamie! For September and October tour dates see What's On. 3.2.18

Jamie Raven added to South Tyneside International Magic Festival 2018. From the organisers: Jamie Raven, who shot to fame on Britain’s Got Talent is preparing to dazzle a North East audience after being added to the line-up for this year’s South Tyneside International Magic Festival. Jamie Raven, who finished runner-up in the 2015 show, is the latest name to be added to the performers list for the 15th Festival of Magic, which is being held in South Shields over the weekend 16th - 18th  March, 2018. His tricks were a massive hit with TV audiences and judges alike, with Simon Cowell famously exclaiming “I now finally believe in magic!” after being dazzled by Jamie’s act. A magician with more than 15 years of experience, he has played sell-out shows across the UK, and is set to embark on a national tour later this year. “I’ve got a busy year ahead, with performances in Dubai in April and then my own tour in September, so the festival will be a nice way to get ready, and I’m looking forward to it.” Jamie will perform some of his trademark tricks and some new material for the public during the first Gala show on Friday 16th March, as he joins a line-up including fellow magicians Andrew Green, Henri White and Javi Benitez.
