The David Berglas Digital Scrapbooks. David Berglas is about to share a lifetime of magical memories via his 'Digital Scrapbooks' on YouTube. An introductory video offers a glimpse of what's to come. Expect anecdotes, video clips, photographs and memorabilia, spanning about eighty years. Starting on June 1st plans are underway to add two new videos every week. They will include David's work on radio, television, film and in variety theatres, as well as many product launches. The first video, which will go live on Friday, 1st June, will feature David explaining how a last minute decision to attend a magic convention led to an introduction to a national magazine. 50th Annual Academy of Magical Arts Awards Ceremony, Los Angeles. At the recent 50th annual Academy of Magical Arts Awards Ceremony in Los Angeles two British magicians were honoured. Wayne Dobson was presented with the Award of Merit as his "ebullient, masterful, live and television performances have become the stuff of legend. His writings have generously passed his wealth of knowledge to us all". Peter Lane was presented with a Special Fellowship to recognise his voluntary work every week for 20 years as Executive Librarian of The Magic Circle. He was also recognised for his work as a magic historian and researcher which he shares with other collectors and writers by providing them with information and illustrations which "keep the beacon of magic history burning". There were many other Awards including a Lifetime Achievement Fellowship to Shimada. David Copperfield received a Masters Fellowship and also a presentation as Magician of The Decade. 19.5.18

There will be two presentations about the female magicians Talma and Suzi Wandas, two about the card performers Edward G.Brown and Cliff Green. Chris Wardle makes a rare stage appearance at The British Ring ‘Picnic’. Chris is well-known for his magical creations and lecturing. Punch & Judy at The British Ring ‘Picnic’. For the first time Mel Harvey will be presenting a special version of his Punch & Judy Show at an IBM (British Ring) gathering. The newly revived The British Ring ‘Picnic’ is being held at The Little Theatre, Leicester on Sunday 27th May. Having toured with Harry Corbett's Sooty Show and appeared on the TV show back in the 70s and 80s, Mel is looking forward to Mr Punch being able to meet Sooty, and six to four he will! The following Saturday, June 2nd, Mel will be at The Royal Hippodrome, Eastbourne with his comedy magic act for a "Day by the Sea" with Roy Hudd, Wyn Calvin, Jan Hunt and members of The British Music Hall Society. Magic in Schools Lecture by Martin Duffy, Wednesday 23rd May, The Cotswold Magical Society. Peter Kidd writes: Martin Duffy started his professional career as a children's entertainer at a private holiday camp when he was 21 and has been a full-time professional children's entertainer in the Newcastle area since 1986. In recent years he has made a name for himself for his shows for schools and has developed special educational magic shows covering themes such as: environmental issues, mathematics, science, healthy eating, road safety and stranger danger. In 2017, he gave a 15-minute presentation on the subject at the Trix in the Stix convention, and this year he launched his Maths Magic Show course, limiting it to 100 magicians worldwide. It sold out within a week.

The Cotswold Magical Society is very lucky to have secured Martin to present his full Magic in Schools lecture for us the day after this year's Trix in the Stix convention, so that those 'Trixsters' travelling south after the convention can call in to enjoy Martin's lecture on their journeys home.
