Magical couple first to wed in The
Magic Circle
Jack Delvin - The Magic Circle PRO
Live Worldwide coverage as it
happens
Two premier members of The Magic Circle, the world famous magical society, will
be the first to use its headquarters for their wedding next month. An historical
moment for both The Magic Circle, and for weddings in general, will take place
next month when it opens its doors for the first time as a marriage venue.
In another first, the ceremony will be witnessed by a record number of people
across the world when it is broadcast via live streaming on the web - the very
first time any event has ever been streamed from the unique theatre of The Magic
Circle. Professional magicians Robert Cox and Mandy Davis will tie the knot in
the theatre and hold a reception in the Devant Room, named after David Devant
the founder of the 103 year old society. Rob, who is the Examinations Secretary
of The Magic Circle, and a member of their governing body, will be marrying for
the very first time at the age of 60: ‘I’ve never felt old enough before!’ he
says. Seventy-five guests will be present but Rob’s mum, who is not well enough
to join the happy couple in London on the day, is hoping to gain access to a
computer from her home in Pangbourne, Berkshire, so that she can watch her
eldest son walk down the aisle.
Mandy is Chairman of the Young Magicians Club, part of The Magic Circle’s Youth
Initiative, and Editor of their magazine Secrets. Young members of YMC
are intending to enjoy the wedding via the web. Thanks to Octopus TV, and the
camera skills of the Magic Video Company, the day will be streamed to the
highest technical requirements and there will be edited highlights available for
those who wish to use this event as a news item. ‘It is perfect timing,’ said
Andrew Eborn of Octopus TV, the award-winning television company. ‘We’ll be
involved in the broadcasting of five rings – those of the Olympics – and two
rings – The Magic Circle’s first wedding ceremony!’
Mandy and Rob will take a short honeymoon due to performing commitments in
August.
