On Friday 8th December I was treated to a night of variety at the Cromer Pier Christmas Show. The show is filled with Song, Dance, Comedy and Magic.

Hosted by the very funny Olly Day, keeping the audience thoroughly entertained with his charm and wit. Olly delivers endless cheeky seaside humour, songs and comedy routines throughout the show. It is great to see Olly doing what he loves so much, this multi-talented performer is a true legend in the variety world and always has an excellent rapport with the audience. I couldn’t think of a better performer to host a show such as this.

Singers and dancers graced the stage belting out Christmas Hits right through to a very dramatic Irish dance piece entitled Celtic Storm. Several numbers in the show were enhanced by Chloe Edwards-Wood and her amazing live saxophone skills.

Amethyst Illusionists Danny Hunt and Stephanie Clarke provided breath-taking routines that left the audience spellbound and cheering for more. Danny and Steph’s first set treated the audience to a very beautiful version of the Warlock Glass (Danny performs this with special permission from Elizabeth Warlock). All I can say is "what a stunning piece of magic, beautifully presented and with a captivating storyline".

Then came their own version of Ring on Shoelace where the duo vanished an audience members ring in front of them and it then very magically appeared on Steph's shoelace. I was watching like a hawk during this routine and it completely fooled me. I really enjoy watching Danny and Steph as they don't come across as your typical "magician and assistant" set up. They work as a team and present their routines as a team. Steph is a magician in her own right, not just a box jumper and I’m glad to have witnessed her talent first-hand.

Later in the show Danny and Steph returned to the stage with their Illusion set which included a Crystal Casket and Ralph Adams Sword Basket. The audience then watched in awe with a great fire fan routine by Steph. The set closed with 180 Illusion built by Philip Hitchcock which I absolutely loved.

I love the connection that they have with the audience and the music and routines were well thought out and presented. As well as blowing the audience away with their magical talents, both Danny and Steph appeared in several other show routines including a very funny version of "If I Was Not Upon The Stage".

This show has something for everyone and a standing ovation at the end says it all. I wish Danny, Steph and the rest of the cast a successful run. If you’re in the area then make sure to pay them a visit. The show runs until Saturday 30th December and tickets can be found at www.cromerpier.co.uk.
