The Card Shark Show - London

"One of the world's foremost Magicians and close up magic star Steve Truglia amazes London's West End Audiences with classic card tricks, cheats and scams in this unique and interactive multimedia show, with film, images music and live camera action, to bring close up magic to every audience member. Having passed the notoriously rigorous performance exam for The Magic Circle, Steve sought out long ago hidden secrets within the Magic Circle's incredible library, to further study these dark arts. In earlier life Steve's time with UK Special Forces taught him the use of psychological operations to defeat an adversary; skills which are also used by gambling cheats and con artists to this day. Steve has now been awarded the highest degree within the Magic Circle, attainable by examination, that of Associate of the Inner Magic Circle, (AIMC); he is one of only 300 people in the world to hold this distinction."

Now showing in the sumptuous 5 star luxury, intimate private theatre of the Courthouse Hotel, in London’s Great Marlborough Street, W1 (nearest tube Oxford Circus).

Magicians at the Half Moon - Bishop's Stortford

Andy Clockwise writes: "I'll be back" were the words uttered by comedy magic genius Al Prendo after his first appearance at The Magicians at the Half Moon last year, and true to his word he will be back on Friday 31st July for another helping of mayhem and madness. Al has been viewed over 1,500,000 times (yes, that's over one and a half million) on YouTube but you can get to see him in person joined by our Half Moon virgin and family favourite, the very tall Sean Lobban. As if these two performers were not enough, adding to the mix is your host and compere for the evening, show producer Martin Cox. As always, doors open at 7.30pm at the Half Moon, 31 North Street, Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire CM23 2LD (Map) and the show kicks off at 8pm. Tickets are available to purchase on the door (subject to availability) for £15 each but if you call 01279 659562 and reserve your ticket you'll save yourself £5. The Magicians at the Half Moon grows in strength month by month with more and more people sharing their experiences on Trip Advisor. Don't sit at home and read the reviews, instead come and enjoy the night for yourself... you'll love it.

Riley's Escape Attempt - Ripon Prison

On August 15th 2015 at 12:00, UK Escape Artist Riley will attempt to escape cell no.1 at Ripon Prison. In 1983 UK Escape Artist David De-Val was also challenged to escape from this cell after declaring that he had worked out Houdini's method of escaping from jail cells. On 26th July of 1983, De-Val was successful and proved that he really had worked out Houdini's secret. This brings us to the present challenge. Rebecca Taylor who is the daughter of the late David De-Val put up a challenge to “Riley” to escape the very cell her father managed to emancipate himself from. She chose Riley as he was a lifelong friend of her fathers and also the illustrator of many of his books. Riley is a world renowned escape artist and member of United Kingdom Escape Artists.

When asked about the challenge Riley said, “David De-Val performed his fastest escape at Ripon - 11 minutes. I'm not trying to beat any records, but I will enjoy the challenge of an older style cell. My previous escapes have been from modern cells, with modern locks, but the older style cells and cuffs fascinate me." The cell will be thoroughly searched, he will have a full strip search by a medic to make sure he has nothing concealed that could aid his escape, be locked in restraints of the period and the cell door will be locked and checked by a master locksmith. Other activities on the day will include straitjacket escapes, prisoner chain and padlock escapes, a Houdini talk and some special outdoor escapes. There will be a chance for the public to get involved at this family event. Will Riley manage to free himself? www.riponmuseums.co.uk.

Master of The Macabre - The Vaults Theatre, Waterloo

From the producers: The most terrifying magic show you will ever see... Master of The Macabre. 7th October - 1st November. Benedict Barber is a magician with a taste for the ghoulish and grisly. In Master of the Macabre, he will take the audience on a dark autobiographical journey – from his introduction to magic at the age of just five through the trickery he employed at school to alarm his fellow pupils and terrorize his teachers to a shocking experience as a young adult that has shaped his life both on and off the stage. This fully engrossing theatrical experience will leave you wide-eyed with astonishment and bring you to the edge of your seat with fear. If you're prepared to have your prejudices challenged, your assumptions questioned, your beliefs shaken and your nerves shredded then this is the show for you. Master of the Macabre is - quite simply - the most terrifying magic show you will ever see... Warning - the show is only suitable for ages 15 and up. The Vaults Theatre, Launcelot Street, London SE1 7AD. Performed by Benedict Barber. Directed by Tony Middleton. Written by Benedict Barber and Matthew Stradling.
