Riviera Circle of Magicians Magic Competition. Professional and amateur magicians competed separately in last week's card and mentalism competitions. The winner of the amateur card competition was one of the club's oldest members, Graham Vandstone. The winner of the club's amateur mentalism award was club secretary Nigel Hocking. The winner of the professional card competition was Christopher Williams (photo) and the winner of the professional mentalism title was club President Trev Stone. Magic at the Jumeriah - After being spotted performing at this year's Rugby Six Nations by the owners of the Jumeirah Hotel and Resorts chain, Mark Williams and Robert Fox were quickly signed up for a number of dates performing at their venues. Last week saw the pair entertain a whole host of hotel owners from around the world at the 2008 Jumeirah Gala Awards Dinner. Don't make me cross... To coincide with the current screening of The Incredible Hulk, Marvel / Qdos Entertainment have produced a brand new touring stage show and The Twins acted as creative consultants on the production. The show features some bespoke illusions designed and built by The Twins for Marvel characters, including Dr Bruce Banner and of course the giant, rampaging Hulk! Gary, of The Twins said, "This production has been very challenging but our hard work has paid off; the illusions are stunning!" Right now the production can be seen until September in Butlins and Warners centres across the UK and then in theatres from September to December (dates not yet released). 5.7.08

Ravi Mayar and Samsung in Rome. It's been almost a year since Ravi performed in three Samsung mobile phone internet commercials (see Events > News on Ravi was flown out to Rome by Samsung to perform at the company's international convention and included some of the magic that he did on the commercials, together with a pickpocketing routine involving the CEO! Many congratulations to Mel and Nicky Harvey on their wedding in Worcester last Saturday. Mel and Nicky met on one of Mel's cruise jobs aboard the Silver Cloud. The couple headed off on the Orient Express to Paris and Venice, and then onto the coast of Tuscany, for the honeymoon. 5.7.08

"I saw John perform his version of Any Card at Any Number at 4F’s a few years ago and he fooled many of the best close-up magicians in the world. His book on the subject (Meant To Be) is awesome.
