Northern Magic Circle Spring Convention 2023. From the organisers: Master of Mind Magic, Chris Rawlins, has been added to the lineup for the Northern Magic Circle’s Spring Convention at the Crown Hotel in Harrogate, 21st-23rd April. Chris will be lecturing as well as performing on the gala show, along with British Ring President Oliver Tabor, who will be delivering a special Ernest Ainley Lecture in memory of our long-term member and benefactor.

Other lectures will be from the prolific, award-winning creator of magic, James Ward, and Punch & Judy man Chris Johnson, who will be saying "That’s the way to do it!" – while President Elect Neil Roberts will be reflecting upon The End of the Pier Show. Janette Page will be talking about Pat Page – the Man and his Magic, and we will have memories of David Budd from his daughter, Janet. Also appearing on the gala and/or children’s show will be Jason Steele and Joanne, Chris & Louise Taylor, the Harlequin puppets, Clivo & Jeani and Brian Lead. Mix in an auction and a quiz and we have a very full convention lined up for you.

The convention will begin with a welcome meal plus a cabaret with The Mansfields (Jez and Emma) and a table-hopping close-up competition. From remarkable unpublished personal documents and props from his storied career, to personal relics from Houdini's home in Harlem, our April sale of Houdiniana will be an offering of historical significance. Jay Adkins Mind Magician Live. From the organisers: Jay Adkins Mind Magician Live is a mentalism show mixed with comedy and fun. Audience members will be involved in the show from the very start and will be blown away by the mind reading demonstrations. They will leave the show asking "How is this possible?". Iain Bailey lecture - The Surrey Society of Magicians. Adam Mosley writes: On Thursday 23rd March Iain Bailey lectures for The Surrey Society of Magicians. Iain Bailey is a Berkshire based magician, pickpocket and magic creator with over 16 million views on TikTok. He was awarded London & South East Region’s "Wedding Entertainer of the Year" at the Wedding Industry Awards and is a proud member of The Magic Circle. He has had a number of effects released with Penguin Magic and Alakazam including Roasted and Measure for Measure. "Iain Bailey creates some of the most organic looking magic I’ve seen. In his lecture Iain will be teaching his fun, quick, easy to understand effects that are suitable for most ages. Tricks using things you’ll find in a coffee shop as well as his "Tricks of the trade" series, using tools you have in your home tool kit!
